AMU Professor delivers a lecture at Jaipur
ALIGARH : Prof Himanshu Shekhar Acharya, Department of Sanskrit, Aligarh Muslim University delivered a lecture on ‘The Vision of Ancient Seers for a Better Tomorrow’ at the three-day international conference on Vedas organized by the Department of Sanskrit, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur.
He said that indiscriminate exploitation of natural resources and unscrupulous actions have caused a big imbalance in nature causing repeated earth-quakes, excessive increases in temperature, drastic changes in weather, drought, floods, bursting of clouds, untimely rain, lightning, landslides, tempests, volcanic eruptions and incurable and unknown diseases.
He stressed that we need to create a balance in the acquisition of Dharma (righteousness), Artha (earning of wealth) and Kama (fulfilment of desires). We are only hankering after wealth (Artha) to fulfil our unlimited and insatiable desires (Kama), leaving behind the Dharma (righteousness).
He upheld the ideas and lifestyle of seers and advocates of global humanism, including Swami Vivekananda and Swami Dayanand Saraswati, and emphasized that following the words of the Vedas is the only way to save humanity and the world.
