AMU Professor delivers a talk at an international workshop

ALIGARH  : Prof. B. P. Singh, former Chairman, Department of Physics, Aligarh Muslim University, delivered a talk on “Enhancing Safety with Advanced Radiation Detection Systems” at a regional workshop on “Radiation Detection Systems for Safety, Security and Societal Applications”, organized by the Amity University, Noida.

He also chaired a technical session at the event, which, consisting of the experts from the Asia-Pacific region, explored advancements in radiation detection technologies.

In his talk, Prof. Singh highlighted the role of radiation in research, medical diagnostics and industry, emphasizing the importance of advanced detection systems for mitigating risks and ensuring public safety.

He discussed ionizing radiation sources, including cosmic rays, radon, and artificial sources used in medical imaging, etc. He also introduced advanced detectors, such as gas-filled, scintillation and semiconductor-based detector systems, for precise radiation monitoring.

He explored modern safety tools, including AI-powered detectors, wearable monitors, and drone-based inspections.
