AMU professor delivers a talk at JNU on Academic Writing and Editing

ALIGARH: Prof. M. J. Warsi, Chairperson, Department of Linguistics, Aligarh Muslim University delivered a talk on “Words That Publish: A Workshop on English for Scholarly Writing and Academic Publication” organized by the Linguistic Empowerment Cell (LEC), Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

Speaking on the “Academic Writing and Editing”, Prof Warsi stated that an academic writing is a style of writing that involves investigation and analysis of a particular issue or topic. He said that a well-designed writing prompts students to think deeply about what they read.

He stressed the need for developing advanced English writing skills with special focus on scholarly writing and publication. He urged the students to equip them with the tools and knowledge needed to present their ideas with precision and clarity.

While elaborating on the stages of writing, Prof Warsi stressed the need for choosing topics and outlining the different aspects of the study, composing the thesis and revising the work with care to identify grammatically incorrect or inappropriate words and sentences and edit them before presenting the final dissertation.
