AMU Professor gets Colin P. Massica Award

ALIGARH : Prof. M J Warsi, Chairman, Department of Linguistics, Aligarh Muslim University has been honoured with the prestigious “Colin. P. Massica Award-2024” during 51st All India Conference of Dravidian Linguists (AICDL) held at the Tamil University, Thanjavur, during June 27-29, 2024. The conference was jointly organized by Dravidian Linguistics Association of India, International School of Dravidian Linguistics (ISDL), Thiruvananthapuram, Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysuru and Tamil University, Thanjavur.

The award has been instituted in the name of great American linguist, Prof. Colin. P. Massica, who is known for his seminal work, “Defining a Linguistic Area: South Asia and The Indo-Aryan Languages”.

Prof Warsi has published several books, including “Maithili Urdu: Language and Delivery”, “Linguistics Dynamism in South Asia” and “Evaluation of Media Reach and Effectiveness”.

He was recently elected as the President of the Linguistic Society of India (LSI).
