AMU research scholar gets prestigious fellowship
ALIGARH : Mohsin Javid, a research scholar in the Department of Wildlife Sciences, at Aligarh Muslim University has been awarded the prestigious Prime Minister Research Fellowship. He will be working on the “Ecology threats and community-based conservation of Kashmir musk deer (Moschus Cuperus) in Kashmir region of Northwest Himalayas”.
Mohsin said Musk deer are the most threatened and scheduled I species in the Wildlife Protection Act, of 1972. The species is having very high poaching pressure due to the musk, which has a high demand in the international market, being used in the perfumery and pharmaceutical industries.
Mohsin is pursuing Ph.D. under Dr. Orus Ilyas.
