AMU resident doctor selected for ICMR-PG Thesis programme
ALIGARH : Dr. Ajith Xavier, a second-year resident in the Department of Pharmacology at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University, has been selected for the prestigious ICMR-PG Thesis Programme for the session 2023-2024. This financial support comes from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Government of India. Notably, Dr. Xavier is the only candidate ever to receive this recognition from the Department of Pharmacology, AMU.
Dr. Xavier’s study, entitled “A Randomised Open-Label Pilot Study to Assess the Pharmacoeconomic and Therapeutic Outcome in Schizophrenia Patients with Aripiprazole Regimen Based on Genetic Polymorphism,” aims at exploring the cost-effective and tailored treatment options for schizophrenia patients. The research will investigate how genetic variations affect the efficacy and cost of the medication aripiprazole, potentially leading to more personalized and affordable treatment plans.
Dr. Xavier will work under the guidance of Dr. Syed Shariq Naeem.
