AMU schools and departments of studies observe Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, Kakori Train Action and Partition Horror Remembrance Day
ALIGARH : The students, teachers and staff at various schools and departments of studies at the Aligarh Muslim University observed the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, and Kakori Train Action and Partition Horror Remembrance Day and paid rich tributes to the martyrs of India’s freedom struggle.
At the AMU ABK High School (Girls), a special assembly was conducted with the students giving speeches and singing patriotic songs under the guidance of the Vice Principal, Dr Saba Hasan, who highlighted the significance of the days and paid tributes to the freedom fighters and martyrs who shed their lives for country’s freedom from the British rule.
Saba Hassan, a student of Class X, delivered a speech on Kakori Train Action.
The STS School organized a series of programmes, including raising the national flag, reminding students of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and instilling in them a sense of patriotism and responsibility towards their country. A plantation drive was also held on the occasion. The teachers and students gathered at the Duck Point to remember the heroes of Kakori Train Action. They also participated in drawing, painting, calligraphy and essay writing competitions held under the supervision of Mr. Mohd Shakir and conducted by Mr. Nooruzzama Arshad.
A plantation drive led by the Principal, Mr. Faisal Nafis marked the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign, reinforcing the idea of environmental conservation.
At the Central Automobile Workshop, the “Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan” was observed with the Member Incharge, Prof. Mohammad Ali, Associate MIC, Dr. Mohammad Yunus, Superintendent Md Fozailuddin Tarique and other staff participating in the event.
The students and teachers at the Ahmadi School for Visually Challenged attended a Partition Horror Remembrance Day programme presided over by the Principal, Dr Naila Rashid, which included an exhibition of photographs depicting the people’s sufferings during partition days. The students also presented patriotic songs.
Prof. R.K. Tewari, Principal, Dr. Ziauddin Ahmad Dental College led the observance of Partition Horrors Remembrance Day through a digital exhibition of photographs preserved by the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR), in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts (IGNCA). The exhibition highlighted the tragic events that led to one of the largest mass migrations in human history, along with the accompanying loss of life, displacement, and upheaval.
The Centre of Advanced Study, Department of History organized a book exhibition to mark the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, which was inaugurated by Prof Hassan Imam, Coordinator and Chairperson, CAS, Department of History.
Prof Imam said that the partition of India in 1947 resulted in the displacement of millions and the loss of countless lives. This day holds significance in both Indian and World history for various reasons.
The exhibition included more than 300 books on different themes of independence and partition, including the collected works of Mahatma Gandhi, selected works of Jawaharlal Nehru, collected works of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, etc.
At the Department of Urdu, the Chairman, Prof Qamrul Hooda Faridi led the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan observed by the students and teachers. An exhibition of books was also organized to create awareness among students regarding the landmark events in the history of India’s freedom struggle, including the Kakori Train Action and the partition of India which caused horrors in the lives of many Indians.
The Department of Modern Indian Languages observed the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan and the Partition Horror Remembrance Day, with the Chairman, Prof T.N. Satheesan leading a plantation drive in the premises of the department and the rising of national flag.
Prof Satheesan remembered the days and urged the students and faculty members to raise the national flag on their houses and spread awareness in their locality about the great sacrifices that our national heroes made during the struggle for India’s freedom.
AMU ABK High School commemorated the Horror of Partition, a tragic event in Indian history that resulted in the loss of millions of lives and the displacement of many more.
Principal Dr Samina delivered a speech highlighting the pain and suffering of the people at the time of partition which is still embedded in our hearts.
At the Public Relations Office, the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan was initiated by the Public Relations Officer, Mr Omar Peerzada, who urged the staff members to raise Tiranga at their houses and share their selfies at the national portal.
