AMU student secures admission at University College London

ALIGARH  : Shareeba Pasha, an ELT postgraduate student at the Department of English, Aligarh Muslim University has been selected for Masters programme in Intercultural Communication at the University College London (UCL), England.

Shareeba, who has completed an online course, ‘Inter-Culturally Speaking’, from the University of Oxford, UK and ‘The Bilingual Brain’ from the University of Houston, USA, completed her senior secondary and undergraduate education at AMU and developed interest in the language and culture studies.

She has published several articles, including a paper on slangs and generation gap, and another on a social taboo, female genital mutilation, which drew appraisals from her peers and teachers. She has been engaged in schoolgirls’ English teaching with special focus on girl children from underprivileged section of society.

Prof Mohammad Asim Siddiqui, Chairman, Department of English expressed happiness on her selection for admission to UCL, saying, “We are greatly proud of her achievements and wish the best in future endeavours”.
