AMU students attend Dr Virendra Kumar’s address on drug abuse
Aligarh : Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) students attended the live screening of the National Youth and Students Interaction Programme in which Dr Virendra Kumar, the Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment advocated for a sustained campaign to end the menace of drug abuse in his communication with students of 75 educational institutions.
The screening at AMU was a part of the ‘Nashe se Azaadi’ and ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ observations of the Dr Ambedkar Chair of Legal Studies and Research, Department of Law.
“In his address, Dr Virendra Kumar highlighted various Government programmes to raise awareness on the harmful effects of alcohol and drug addiction and encouraged young people to work together to eradicate drug abuse from society and create a Nasha Mukt Bharat”, said Prof Javaid Talib (In-Charge, Dr Ambedkar Chair of Legal Studies and Research).
He added: “Prof Mohammad Ashraf (Dean, Faculty of Law), Prof Shakeel Ahmad, Prof M Wasim Ali, Prof Hashmat Ali Khan, Dr Tabassum Chaudhary and Dr Zafar Ahmad Khan also called upon the youth to exhibit determination and extend cooperation for achieving the goal of society free of drug abuse”.
Meanwhile students also participated in a poster-making contest and a panel discussion aimed at spreading awareness on the harms of drugs on the youth.
