AMU Students won gold at 6th Khelo India Youth Games

 

Aligarh :In a display of prowess at the 6th Khelo India Youth Games in Chennai, students from Aligarh Muslim University,  Zuhair Khan and  Sabeera Harris, etched their names in the annals of university shooting games history. Zuhair Khan, a first-year B.Tech student in food technology at ZHCET, brought home a gold medal for Uttar Pradesh, showcasing exceptional skills in the trap shooting men’s event. Khan not only secured victory but set a new games record in qualifications with an impressive score of 120/125. In the finals, he continued his stellar performance, shooting 44/50 to clinch the gold for UP.

Adding to the glory, Sabeera Harris, a class 11th student from AMU, mirrored Khan’s success by securing gold in the trap shooting women’s event. Harris exhibited remarkable skill, achieving a qualification score of 109/125 and an impressive 46/50 in the finals, further enhancing AMU’s shooting sports.

This achievement also earned them a coveted spot in the government’s “Khelo India” scheme, guaranteeing 8-year sports scholarship for international event preparation.
