AMU to rename Inter-Faith Centre

Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) is renaming its Centre for Inter-Faith Understanding as ‘Dara Shikoh Centre for Inter-Faith Understanding and Dialogue’ after the Mughal prince, Dara Shikoh, who developed cordial relationships between people of different faiths.

“AMU is submitting a proposal to the Ministry of Human Resource Development, University Grants Commission Centre and Ministry of Minority Affairs for further development of the Centre. It will be appropriate and helpful if the Centre is named after Dara Shikoh, a philosopher and thinker of inter-faith understanding of his time,” said Mr Abdul Hamid, IPS (AMU Registrar).
