AMU undergraduate students publish research article in Tarikh
ALIGARH: A research article titled “Crossroads of Faith: How Trade Winds Shaped Islam in 12th Century Malabar”, co-authored by Ms Amna Asim Khan and Ms Zunaira Habib Alvi, both undergraduate students at the Women’s College, Aligarh Muslim University and members of University Debating and Literary Club, has been published in Tarikh, an academic journal published by St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi. Their article is based on the theme, ‘The Ocean as a Space of Exchange: Tracing Maritime Histories’.
The authors of the paper said that the article discusses the arrival of Islam in India and its eventual localisation on the Malabar Coast which led to the formation of a religious class that lay beyond the periphery of mediaeval Islamic conquests.
Prof. F. S. Sherani, Coordinator, Cultural Education Centre and Dr Sadaf Fareed, President, University Debating and Literary Club, congratulated the students on their literary achievement.
