AMU Vice-Chancellor Continues Hall Inspections on Day 2

Aligarh : On the second day of her scheduled inspections, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Naima Khatoon visited the Girls’ Sarojini Naidu Hall and Bibi Fatima Hall to review the progress of ongoing renovations. This visit is part of a comprehensive cleaning and renovation campaign initiated by Prof. Khatoon shortly after assuming office, coinciding with the summer vacation.

The Vice-Chancellor’s initiative is aimed at improving the living conditions of the university’s hostels. Following the evacuation of the halls of residence, Prof. Khatoon continues her inspections to ensure that tasks are on track for completion before students return. During her visit, she assessed the cleanliness and maintenance of hostel rooms, bathrooms, common areas such as dining halls and reading rooms, and surrounding areas including lawns, sports areas, and rooftops. She directed the concerned officials to address the water logging issue behind Bibi Fatima Hall and near the Athletics ground.

Prof. Khatoon expressed satisfaction with the progress and commended the non-teaching staff for their teamwork and dedication to this extensive project, which is essential for providing improved living conditions. The Provosts assured her that their teams are committed to creating a welcoming and conducive environment for the students.

The Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of maintaining regular cleaning and organization throughout the year, advocating for a continuous cycle of upkeep with well-defined action plans to ensure the halls remain in top condition.

University officials, including the Registrar, DSW, Finance Officer, Proctor, Deputy Proctor, and MIC of the Building Department, Electricity Department, Land and Gardens, University Engineer, University Health Officer, and other officials were also present during the inspection.

Later in the day, Prof. Khatoon convened a consultative meeting with university officials to review the renovation progress and discuss preparations for the upcoming academic session.
