AMU Vice Chancellor inaugurates Modern Surgery Seminar Hall

 

Aligarh : A state-of-art, aesthetically designed, 108 seated, acoustic, Modern Surgery Seminar Hall with multimedia facilities was inaugurated by Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor at the Department of Surgery, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC).

 

“I am confident that the new multi-purpose hall equipped with the latest technology will promote academic activities and facilitate international collaborations in medical research,” said the Vice Chancellor.

 

Prof Mansoor added: “Surgery is one of the most demanding medical branches that require skills and good infrastructure. JNMC is ranked 15th in the recently released NIRF rankings. Our dental college has also made it to the list of premier institutes in the rankings. Our ranking in medical will improve further if we open new MCH/ DM courses”.

 

“The rankings not only reflect high academic standards at JNMC, but also the quality of health facilities available for people of lower economic strata at medical college hospital”, he stressed.

 

The Vice Chancellor also visited the newly constructed Surgery Museum.

 

Prof Rakesh Bhargawa (Dean, Faculty of Medicine) spoke about the efforts of faculty members, Prof Syed Amjad Ali Rizvi (Chairman, Department of Surgery) and Dr Mohd Wasif Ali for getting the renovation of the Seminar Hall done aptly in the appropriate time.

 

Prof Shahid A Siddiqui (Principal and Chief Medical Superintendent, JNMC) said that the much needed, digital and high tech Modern Surgery Seminar Hall was conceptualized by the Vice Chancellor.

 

In the welcome address, Prof Afzal Anees (Officiating Chairman, Department of Surgery) spoke on the distinctive features of the newly inaugurated Modern Surgery Seminar Hall.

 

Prof Syed Amjad Ali Rizvi (Chairman, Department of Surgery) extended the vote of thanks.

 

He thanked the Vice Chancellor for extending the required help in getting the Seminar Hall renovated and exhorted all faculty members, students and researchers of various JNMC departments to make the best use of this facility.

 

Prof Farid Mehdi (Member-in-Charge, Building Department), Prof Mohd Rihan (Member-in-Charge, Electricity Department), Rajeev Sharma (University Engineer), chairmen of various JNMC departments and faculty members attended the function.
