AMU’s training and placement office helps more than 700 students achieve employment
ALIGARH : More than 700 students of the Aligarh Muslim University, belonging to different departments of studies and faculties, received lucrative job offers from a number of multinational and national companies and organizations, through the recruitment and placement exercises conducted by the Training and Placement Office, (General), during the academic session 2022-23. This figure swells further if we add about 105 international placements facilitated by the TPO during the same period.
In order to maximize the prospects for more and wider selection of students, the Training and Placement Office (General) undertook transformative initiatives, garnering outstanding outcomes and contributing to the holistic development of the students.
“To materialize this goal, the TPO organized 35 Career Guidance and Personality Development events across the university over the last one and half year focusing specific subject groups, girls, resident students and school level higher class students, ensuring their maximum participation,” said the Training and Placement Officer, Mr Saad Hameed.
Besides the specific guidance and counseling sessions, a number of job fairs were organized to provide the large segment of final year students of various programmes with an opportunity to vie for a job in prestigious companies and organizations that took part in these fairs.
In November 2022, a one-day job fair and a flagship event, Sairaab, witnessed active participation of over 20 esteemed companies, which, after a hectic selection process, selected more than 200 students for various job profiles.
Another corporate meet, ‘Ignite’, held in May 2023, focused the theme “Digital Transformation”, which provided more than 15 companies with the panel discussions on corporate expectations, challenges, and opportunities coming up after the continued digital transformation. It was followed by a robust Q&A session allowing the students to engage directly with industry experts and gain valuable insights.
Aligned with the G20 Presidency of India for Women Empowerment, the TPO organized a one-day job fair, ‘Parwaaz’ in September 2023 exclusively for female students with an objective to break barriers and promote inclusivity, offering unique opportunities for female empowerment.
The first phase of Career Karwaan, themed “Professional Development”, held in November 2023, was a milestone event covering vital aspects such as Resume Writing, LinkedIn Optimization, Interview Preparations, and Corporate Expectations. The workshop aimed at equipping students with essential skills for a result-oriented professional journey. The event, held at the Boys’ Polytechnic Auditorium, symbolized TPO’s commitment towards creating a diverse learning environment.
Under its another fruit-bearing initiative, the TPO organized a series of Career Counseling sessions at various AMU schools for higher class students to instill a career-related awareness and preparedness among school students and help them make a career choice in the very beginning and work hard to achieve a success accordingly.
Lauding the efforts of the TPO team members, Mr Saad Hameed hoped that the year 2024 has more promises for job-seeking students as a number of programmes and initiatives are in pipelines and several subject-oriented job fairs are expected to be held in near future. He urged the students to keep visiting the webpage of the TPO for further opportunities and job-fairs, which can open the gate for them to the high-profile job positions lying with reputed companies and organizations.
