Amway India commits to an equal future for all: Pledges to Encourage, Enable and Empower Women Entrepreneurs

Pune : International Women’s Day (IWD) (March 8) is a worldwide celebration of women’s historical, cultural, economic, and political accomplishments. In line with the International Women’s Day 2022 theme – #BreakTheBias, Amway India, one of the country’s leading FMCG direct selling companies continued its commitment to an equal future for all. Across India, the company is undertaking a slew of women-centric programs leading to the IWD celebrations across the country. The campaign aims to provide an inclusive platform to women Amway Direct Selling Partners (ADS Partners) and potential women entrepreneurs by supporting them in their entrepreneurial journey through skilling and offering possible growth opportunities.

Commenting on International Women’s Day, Anshu Budhraja, CEO, Amway India, said, “Diversity with equal representation of women workforce is one of our key enterprise priorities to drive business growth. According to a recent study on the Future of Work for Women, the gig economy has exponential prospects to absorb more women and increase their workforce participation, implying a 41% increase in overall women’s employment in the FMCG sector. Our efforts are aligned with this year’s theme for International Women’s Day #BreakTheBias that exerts the need to create a world free of stereotypes and discrimination. Amway’s efforts towards advocating inclusivity and equal opportunity for all, which is the core of our DNA. I believe that women entrepreneurs are key to Amway’s future in India and it’s encouraging to see women taking charge of their economic future, and the fact that more than 60% of our distributors are women is a testimony. To emphasize the need to build an ecosystem to support women entrepreneurs we conducted sessions such as panel discussions, expert speaker programs, and sessions around product categories such as nutrition, beauty, and cookware.

Additionally, Amway is not just celebrating its ADS Partners, but its women employees, with an initiative #ExtraordinaryinOrdinary. Here, the women of Amway will be featured, through a virtual celebration to share their stories of resilience and courage of braving the odds both personally and professionally to inspire others. Amway continues to contribute the skill development and entrepreneurship within the country by focusing on a training strategy and direct handling skills and competencies. According to McKinsey, simply providing equal opportunities to women could add $770 billion i.e., more than 18% to the country’s GDP by 2025. The company is working to accelerate women’s growth, which will give India’s growth story a much-needed boost.
