ARU Peterborough has been announced as one of the sponsors of the Peterborough United Women’s Football Team for the 2022/23 season.

The Posh Women play in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands, the fourth tier of the Women’s game. The season kicks off with a trip to Sporting Khalsa in Wolverhampton on Sunday, 21 August.

Home fans will get their first chance to see the new kit, which features ARU Peterborough on the shirt sleeves, when The Posh welcome Lincoln City to the Weston Homes Stadium on 31 August (7.45pm) – their first-ever competitive game at the ground.

Professor Ross Renton, Principal of ARU Peterborough, said:

“Women’s football is enjoying unprecedented support right now following the Lionesses’ European Championship success and we are delighted to support the city’s football clubs. Exercise plays an important role in positive mental health and wellbeing, and anything we can do to encourage that is welcome.

“And who knows, amongst our first group of students and staff there may well be some promising footballers of the future as well as people who will want to participate in the other sports and fitness activities on offer in the city.”

Posh Women General Manager Bobby Copping said:
“We are delighted to have ARU Peterborough on board as our sleeve sponsor for the 22/23 season. The new university is an exciting development for the city and we’re hopeful that the recent success of the England Women’s football team will encourage some of the new students to come down, support the team and get involved with the club.”

ARU Peterborough is a partnership between Anglia Ruskin University, the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, and Peterborough City Council.
