Anglia Ruskin University: ARU’s scores rise across the board in latest NSS

Anglia Ruskin University’s scores have increased in every category of this year’s National Student Survey (NSS), released this week.

The NSS gathers the opinions of final-year students about the quality of their courses. The survey is anonymous and every university in the UK takes part, as do many colleges.

Over 3,500 (65%) of ARU’s final-year students responded this year, providing a valuable insight into their perceptions of different aspects of university life, including teaching, assessment and feedback, learning opportunities, and student voice.

This year’s NSS has seen ARU’s overall satisfaction score rise to 77%, which is above the average for all English universities, while ARU’s scores have increased for every category and for every question asked.

Additionally, ARU is placed in the top 20% of mainstream* universities for the majority of the categories: Learning Opportunities; Assessment & Feedback; Organisation & Management; Learning Community; Student Voice; and SU Representation.

Professor Roderick Watkins, Vice Chancellor of ARU, said:

“We are extremely proud of our students and their success, and we are also very proud of our staff and the transformational difference they are making to our students’ lives.

“These results clearly demonstrate that our commitment to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for our students is recognised and appreciated.”
* Mainstream refers to all universities in England with a population over 500, excluding specialist, alternative and FE providers.
