Anglia Ruskin University: Chance to explore Peterborough’s new university
There are still opportunities to study at ARU Peterborough this academic year, and the UK’s newest university is offering prospective students the chance to explore its state-of-the-art facilities during an Open Day on Saturday, 1 October.
The Open Day will provide the opportunity to speak to teaching staff and current students, find out about clubs and societies, attend talks about all aspects of student life, and find out how to apply for courses beginning in January and September 2023.
ARU Peterborough, situated in the very heart of the city, is already teaching undergraduate students who are now based at University House, the first phase of ARU Peterborough.
Further undergraduate courses, degree apprenticeships, and postgraduate courses will begin in January. Unlike many traditional universities, the majority of courses at ARU Peterborough are available to start in January, and this is expected to prove particularly attractive to international and mature students.
The new university is employment-focused and providing courses with the skills needed by the region’s businesses. ARU Peterborough has already worked with over 170 companies to shape the curricula of the new courses.
In line with the mission of the university, a range of industry-linked short courses are also being delivered across the academic year, including the Small Business Britain’s Small & Mighty Enterprise programme. ARU Peterborough academics are already supporting 300 small business owners as part of this scheme, and a second group is expected to start in January.
A number of continuing professional development courses, outreach courses and activities are also planned for delivery throughout 2022/23. These include a suite of IEMA accredited Environmental Management courses.
Professor Ross Renton, Principal of ARU Peterborough said:
“I’d like to welcome all students beginning their studies with us this week. There has already been a fantastic atmosphere on campus during our welcome week activities. We have several further opportunities for study at ARU Peterborough this academic year, from courses beginning in January, to degree apprenticeships and continuing professional development routes.
“Visitors to our Open Day will be able to explore our amazing new facilities and see the progress that’s being made in expanding the university, with the second phase set to open next year. This is an incredibly exciting time for Peterborough.”
