Annual Hall Function celebrated

 

ALIGARH  : Dareecha ’24, the annual literary, cultural and sports festival of the Sarojini Naidu Hall of residence for female students at the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) concluded with a felicitation ceremony for the winners of various events, which culminated on an annual Hall Function and a gala dinner.

In her address, the chief guest, Prof Naima Gulrez, Principal, AMU Women’s College, appreciated the efforts of the programme organizers and congratulated the winners of various events. She called upon the students to make a definite goal in life and put all their efforts and labour to achieve that goal. She said that with an scattered mind, big achievements cannot be materialized.

She also felicitated the Provost, Prof Afshan Bey, wardens Dr Sadaf Nasir, Dr Sufia Naseem, Dr Nazia Begum and Ms Heena Parveen and other Hall committee members.

AMU Proctor, Prof. Wasim Ali and the DSW, Prof. Rafiuddin, who attended the programme as the guests of honour, urged the students to nurture a positive attitude and look at the things happening in their lives in a constructive way, as a positive approach always makes the things better.

They said that an optimistic outlook motivates the person which finally leads him to a success.

Earlier, welcoming the guests, the Provost, Prof Bey highlighted the success stories of the hall residents and congratulated the winners and participants of different events held under the hall festival.

She urged the students to take part in the inter-hall literary, cultural and sports events as it would greatly help them in their personality developments and save them from harmful internet distractions.

Senior Proctorial Monitor, Kulsoom Fatima felicitated Prof Bey, while the respective secretaries of the literary, cultural and sports committees presented a report of the activities held as part of the annual hall function, Dareecha. A team of girl students presented a comic play leaving the audience in a fit of laughter.

Dr Shahapur Rehman and Dr Sirajuddin Shaikh gave a mesmerizing Tabla performance accompanied by Harmonium play.
