Delhi : Alumni from The Australian National University (ANU) and Macquarie University are now eligible for reduced fees on postgraduate study at either institution thanks to an Australian-first collaboration.

Both universities offer alumni postgraduate support schemes to help their graduates return to study and upskill. This 10 per cent fee waiver has now been extended to be available on a reciprocal basis.

The new fee waiver is just the first step of a partnership between ANU and Macquarie, which also includes the opportunity for international students at either university to study on exchange at the other to broaden their experience of Australia.

ANU Vice-Chancellor Professor Brian Schmidt said: “ANU and Macquarie are such complementary institutions; when we combine our areas of expertise in teaching and research and the diverse experiences of our two cities, we can give students an incredible experience.

“Similarly, there is much to be gained by working together as a mini Team Australia in our dealings with international partners and agents. It’s great to work together on these two Australian firsts.”

Macquarie University Vice-Chancellor Professor S Bruce Dowton said: “This study support arrangement will encourage lifelong learning for alumni of two great Australian universities.

“The international exchange scheme means Macquarie international students can gain experience from some of Australia’s brightest minds at ANU while exploring the nation’s capital.

“Meanwhile ANU international students can experience the business capital of Australia in Sydney and participate in Macquarie University’s award-winning programs such as our Global Leadership Program.”

Eligible alumni can apply for the postgraduate support scheme via the scholarship pages of each university’s website.

Applications for the exchange program open 1 May 2023, for commencement on exchange in Semester 1, 2024. International students can apply by visiting the student exchange webpages of their home university.

The two initiatives announced today are just the start of ongoing cooperation under an agreement signed in April 2021.
