Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication successfully concludes the 3rd edition of ‘Media Chaupal’

New Delhi: Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC) successfully concludes the 3rd edition of its flagship event ‘Media Chaupal’. The event was held in association with Public Relations Society of India, Delhi Chapter as the Academic Partner. Media Chaupal featured discussions with some of the most experienced media professionals from across India including:

Media Chaupal aimed at providing college students an open forum to discuss and gain insight into various media fields like Journalism, Advertising, Public Relations, Event Management and Social Media. Attendees included faculty and students from various colleges across Delhi NCR and they witnessed open discussions on the evolution of the communications industry in the digital era. Media stalwarts and experts held discussions on how the Indian Media & Entertainment Industries – specifically ‘Journalism’ and ‘Integrated Marketing Communication’ are undergoing a phenomenal change in the age of digital freedom along with opportunities and challenges that it brings for all the stakeholders.

Dr. Ajit Pathak, National President, Public Relations Society of India said, ‘‘Digital is no longer a choice for the communications industry – it presents the voice of the public. We live in the age of prosumers and user-generated content where how brands drive that to their advantage is both – a challenge and an opportunity for them.’’

Prof. KG Suresh, former DG Doordarshan and Professor Emeritus, AIMC, said, ‘‘There is no doubt that digital media has democratized journalism, however, it comes with it challenges like the circulation of unverified news, fake news and trolling. These are phenomenon that journalism needs to deal with.’’

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Sajal Mukherjee, Director, AIMC said, “The aim of ‘Media Chaupal’ is to introduce the faculty and students to various challenges facing the media and entertainment industry and also provide a platform for students to showcase their talent in areas of their interest.’’

Various media related competitions like RJ Hunt, Scavenger Hunt, 2 Minutes to Fame, Media Quiz were held and exciting prizes along with certificates were awarded to the winners. College students from all round Delhi-NCR and IP affiliated colleges attended the event and made it a success.
