Ashoka Innovators for the Public invites nominations for Young Changemakers Programme
New Delhi: Ashoka: Innovators for the Public, which supports the world’s largest network of social entrepreneurs, invites nominations for Young Changemakers Programme. Young leaders between the age of 12 – 20 who have created a positive impact in the community can apply for the programme. The last date to apply is June 15th, 2019.
In July 2019, Ashoka will introduce the global edition of Young Changemakers programme in India that will focus on the role of young people as influencers and co-leaders. The programme will aim to make changemaking aspirational for others in their network. Ashoka Young Changemakers are a carefully selected network of young people who have found their power to create change for the good of all, and who are engaging their peers and the entire society in realizing a world where Everyone is a Changemaker.
A high level panel from Ashoka will identify a select group as Ashoka Young Changemakers, who will be inducted into a global community and gain access to co-leadership boot camps, media partnerships, public speaking platforms, exposure visits, strategic allies and more opportunities to grow themselves and to influence youth culture in our country.
Yashveer Singh, Global Executive Director, Ashoka Young Changemakers said, “We are living in truly historic moments, in a world that is defined by change. Ashoka believes in order to thrive in this new world every young person needs to grow up as a changemaker – a person who steps up to solve problems for the good of all. It is critical for India’s future to have an ecosystem where young people could lead change from early on in life.”
“The programme has received an enthusiastic response in India. We have already received more than 1200 nominations for the Ashoka Young Changemakers programme. Owing to the high interest of youngsters who are applying from all over the country, we have now extended the deadline to 15th June,” he added.
All around us we see evidence that we now live in a world of accelerating change, volatility and hyper connectivity. Yet, societies around the world continue to focus on an old idea that “success” for young people means being ready for a stable job. However, according to the World Economic Forum, “65% of children entering primary school today will ultimately end up working in completely new job types that don’t yet exist.
The selection process involves four steps – Online form and screening interviews, Interviews with senior staff from Ashoka global office, Interviews with Young Changemakers from other countries and a selection panel with esteemed Jury.
