Assam: Mid day meal being served to over 40 lakh school students
New Delhi: In Assam, mid day meal is being served to over 40 lakh school students by the Education department. Talking to AIR News, Principal Secretary in Education department B Kalyan Chakravarthy said that social distancing and proper hygiene are being maintained.
He said that all necessary steps have been taken to contiune the mid day meal in the state during lock down. Mr. Chakravarthy said that school management committe and head teachers have been instructed to ensure that it should reach the houses of the students.
Meanwhile, the Assam government has instructed Deputy Commissioners to provide necessary helps to migrant labourers. Talking to AIR Commissioner- Secretary ( Home) M Manivannan said that all DCs have been instructed to provide shelter and relief materials to them. He said that all the norms of social distancing and hygiene must be followed in the shelter home. He said that currently there are around 1 thousand migrant labourers in Assam.
