Aston University: Aston Law School to host ‘in conversation’ event with legal industry experts
Aston Law School is set to host an ‘in conversation’ event with key industry experts on Thursday 27 October at Eastside Rooms in Birmingham.
The event will be chaired by Shaid Parveen, a senior teaching fellow and recipient of the Legal Academic of the Year at the Women in Law Awards 2021.
The panel will consist of legal industry experts Lubna Shuja, Inez Brown and Tony McDaid.
Lubna Shuja is the first Asian, first Muslim and seventh female president of the Law Society of England and Wales.
Inez Brown is West Midlands regional chair for the Institute of Directors, partner and head of clinical negligence at the Medical Accident Group and was inaugurated as the first black president of Birmingham Law Society in 2020.
Tony McDaid is CEO and director of clerking at No5 Chambers and the first non-lawyer to be appointed as the president of Birmingham Law Society in 2022.
The evening will be split into two parts, with networking opportunities at the outset and then the speakers will engage in discussion with the host.
Shaid Parveen said:
“Aston Law School is delighted to be joined by Lubna, Inez and Tony to share their truly inspirational and pioneering journeys, on a personal and professional level.
“The audience will be presented with real models and not just role models!”
“The event is open to the public and I welcome the opportunity for industry to connect with the community, and to inspire the next generation.”
