Aston University: Aston University graduate wins outstanding entrepreneur of the year in Asian business awards
An Aston University graduate was crowned Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year at the Asian Business Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) annual dinner and awards ceremony held at the National Conference Centre, Solihull on Saturday 19 November.
Kamran Saleem, who graduated from Aston Business School with a degree in business administration and management in 2004, is managing director of Motorserv UK.
MOT and vehicle servicing company Motorserv UK also scooped the title Outstanding Small Business of the Year and was named the Overall Asian Business of the Year 2022.
MotorServ UK has shown a considerable growth in business turnover with company projections and aims to be the number one provider of their sector.
The company has also invested over £200,000 in transforming the footprint in Monkspath Business Park, which has resulted in increasing their servicing capacity by 37 per cent and has also generated new jobs for another seven members of staff.
They offer a wide range of employment and apprenticeship opportunities to a large number of staff from Asian descent.
Kamran has also been able to rally support for charitable causes including recent fundraising efforts to the Anzal Begum Foundation by offering support for food and water, clothing and medicine, local relief and orphan care in Pakistan.
MotorServ UK was also a sponsor of the two-day Big John’s Mela held in Birmingham’s Cannon Hill Park, the largest Asian outdoor event in the UK in partnership, with Birmingham City Council.

Professor Aleks Subic, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of Aston University, who presented the overall Business of the Year award, said:

“It was wonderful to see an alumnus of Aston University receive this award. It was an exceptional event celebrating one of the most diverse business ecosystems in the country, involving truly inspirational entrepreneurs from very diverse backgrounds, cultures and ethnicities.
“I am proud of the impact Aston University is creating in this community by helping them succeed in their respective businesses and industries.”
