Aston University has launched a new sustainability programme as part of the Government’s Skills Bootcamps.

Green Advantage, developed by the Centre for Growth in partnership with the Energy & Bioproducts Research Institute (EBRI), the Centre for Circular Economy and Advanced Sustainability and the Low Carbon SMEs Project, is open to business leaders, managers and professionals as part of the Government’s Skills Bootcamps.

The programme, delivered free of charge to learners, lasts approximately 12 weeks and is designed to fit around a full-time role, comprising of five workshops and five hours of one-to-one business coaching.

Supported by interactive workshops, like-minded peers and a one-to-one business coach, participants will learn about environmental sustainability from leading Aston University academics and industry experts, hear examples of sustainability strategies being used by businesses today and build a bespoke Sustainability Roadmap for their business or business area.

Paula Whitehouse, director of Aston Centre for Growth at Aston Business School, said:

“I am grateful to the business leaders who have helped us design this new course from Aston Centre for Growth which will support businesses to thrive in a competitive environment whilst having a positive impact on the world.

“Aston University specialists from the fields of business and engineering join with industry experts on the programme, providing our participants with a range of perspectives and insights to help them navigate this critical and rapidly developing area.

“I am excited that the support we have received from West Midlands Combined Authority is enabling us to bring leaders and managers in the region together helping them deliver their vision for the future.

“Cohort 1 has started this week (17 October), and I wish them every success.”
