Aston University supports LoveBrum with 5K fun run

Aston University has celebrated its patronage of LoveBrum, through a 5K fun run held on campus, with the aim of raising funds for the charity’s various causes around the city.

Participants were invited to walk or run a one kilometre loop through campus five times, either as an individual or in a relay team starting at the Aston Students’ Union.

Every participant who completed the 5K fun run received a Love Brum pin badge as a token of appreciation.

The fun run brought together University staff, students and networks from all backgrounds on Tuesday 14 March.

LoveBrum is a Birmingham-based charity that supports local causes, charities, and projects that are often overlooked or underfunded. The charity works to bring together businesses, volunteers, and donors to make a significant impact in the local community.

All money raised from the event will go to LoveBrum to support their causes around the city, with over £400 donated so far.

Dr Angela Jeffery, director of regional strategy at Aston University, said:

“Aston University is proud to have organised such a fantastic event and to support LoveBrum in their mission to create a better Birmingham for all.

“The University believes in the power of community engagement and is committed to working with organisations like LoveBrum to make a positive impact in the local area.”

The fun run took place a day after 12 University staff members volunteered at Tabor House on Monday 13 March. Tabor Living, in partnership with Father Hudson’s Care, provides accommodation and support for those experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
