At the Inauguration of PGDPC 29, DSC signs MOU with MSU

Apart from welcoming students of PGDPC 29, DSC launches Under Graduate programmes – to fulfill the demand for evolving media & communication, in collaboration with Medhavi Skills University as Sectoral Partner

New Delhi : The formal Inauguration of the XXIX Post-Graduate Diploma Programme in Communication was held on August 3 2023, as DSC celebrates 29 years of Building Young India!

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Chetan Mahajan, Founder & CEO, The Mavericks & the Guest of Honour was Ms Neha Agarwalla, Associate Vice President, Paytm. A Special Guest on the occasion was Mr. Pravesh Dudani, Founder & Chancellor of Medhavi Skills University, Sikkim &Managing Director of the sponsoring body of the University – Medhavi Foundation.

 

The highlight of the event was the announcement of DSC’s entry into the UG education scenario. Celebrating 29th year of successfully running the Post-Graduate Diploma Programme in Integrated Marketing Communication, The Delhi School of Communication (DSC) now launches Under-Graduate Programmes – to address the increasing demand for evolving media and communications.

On a formal mode, DSC joined hands with Medhavi Skill University as their Sectoral Partner in Media and Entertainment, with exclusivity in IMC. An MOU was signed to formalize the association. To elaborate, MSU is a UGC recognized new-age university, empowering youths with industry-relevant programmes for enhanced employability and success.

To continue on this mode, DSC, MSU and Mavericks also signed a Tripartite Agreement, thus joining hands in Building Young India.

 

This means that DSC now enters the revolutionary field of apprentice-embedded programmes, in critical alignment with the new Educational Policy 20 and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). Launching into the arena of UGC recognized Under Graduate education, DSC’s slot is as a Sectoral Partner in IMC with Medhavi Skills University. To spell out the courses they are – BA in Media & Marketing Communication & BA in PR & Content Management.

 

Opening his speech, Mr Chetan Mahajan observed, “DSC’s phenomenal work in the post-graduation degree program and their commitment to bridging the demand-supply gap is inspiring. Congratulations on the launch of the graduation programme! In the dynamic world of integrated Marketing Communications, the journey to success begins with a solid foundation. As we continue to witness the ever-deepening integration of Marketing Communications, these graduates will be well-poised to shape the future of storytelling.”

 

Tracing her journey and welcoming the new batch of students to this profession,
Ms Agarwalla pointed out that “Marketing 15 years before & now has changed a lot. The time has changed from being specialist to generalist. Hard work still pays off. Honing your problem-solving skills, teamwork abilities will help you see the impact of marketing in the real world”. And what were the mantras to build a lasting career? She revealed that it’s all about “Don’t be a specialist, be a generalist; be a thinker, creator and not just a doer; and follow the 3 Ps – be passionate, persevere, focus on work and finally progress and move ahead!”

 

Highlighting the significance of this association, Mr. Pravesh Dudani remarked, “Our partnership with DSC strengthens our commitment to academic excellence and innovation. In the increasingly interconnected world, communication has a vital role in shaping society, and these programs aim to prepare the next generation of communicators to drive positive change.”

 

As this step marks a new phase in the history of DSC, Ms Rupanjali Lahiri Gupta, Associate Director, who has been spearheading the movement, announced – “It gives me immense joy to see that DSC has indeed, moved ahead in its journey. As new doors open, we know that we will be consistently pursuing excellence to Build Young India”.

Professor Ramola Kumar, Dean at DSC noted that since the very beginning when DSC was launched in 1995, the endeavour has been focused on building young minds. “We have seen students who have learnt – unlearnt – relearnt issues….and they have gone ahead and performed outstandingly well. Now, we welcome the students and are sure that their journey will be successful. We are sure they will learn to stay focused, gearing them up to face industry demands!”

 

At the end, the Semester Scholarship award for Semester 2 and the Admission Scholarships were also announced.

 

The Vote of Thanks was rendered by Dr Manik Katyal, Academic Council Member and the day ended with an ice-breaker session for the freshers, who were all set to embark on their new journey.

A new phase opens up for DSC in the education arena. Students who are in pursuit of attaining freedom along with finding a career that will set them up in life, both at the PG and UG level – will find that forging ahead along this track, will lead them to success.
