Atal Innovation Mission of NITI Aayog today celebrated the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ commemorating India’s 75 years of Independence in New Delhi.
On the occasion, the Aayog launched the second edition of Atal New India Challenges including various programmes. A special exhibition of 75 milestones which defined India’s innovation journey over the years was displayed highlighting the innovation story of the country.
Atal Innovation Mission’s journey and contribution to the innovation ecosystem was also portrayed in the event with the exhibition of innovation prototypes created by innovators from AIM’s tinkering labs and incubation ecosystem.
The event also marked the launch of the second edition of Atal New India Challenges. ANIC aims at supporting innovators to create products based on advanced technologies in areas of national importance and social relevance through a grant-based mechanism.
Speaking at the event, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted the role of Atal Innovation Mission saying that institutions like Atal Innovation Mission are working for achieving India’s aims to foster innovation in different sectors of the economy.
He said, these institutions are providing platforms and ecosystem collaboration opportunities for different stakeholders apart from innovation. He said that the country needs to focus on those youngsters who have potential and can contribute to India in achieving @100 in 2047.
Chief Executive Officer of NITI Aayog Amitabh Kant said that the country saw 44 new unicorns during the COVID-19 pandemic. He said, the phenomenal growth of the innovation ecosystem presents immense opportunities to create scalable solutions for not just India but for the world.
He highlighted that ten thousand Atal Innovation Mission labs have been established by the Aayog across the country.
