Atria University’s free online sessions: Epic paper planes, Immersive Reality and more

New Delhi: Upcoming Atria University, backed by South-India based Atria Group, has launched an interactive online series where some of the world’s most innovative thought leaders introduce cutting-edge technologies to aspiring students. With the national lockdown forcing students to stay indoors, the University has found a unique solution to engage students in India by bringing the best minds from across the globe to their computer screens and phones for free. Renowned global experts, including a Guinness World Record holder and paper airplane expert, John Collins, popularly known as ‘the Paper Airplane Guy’ and the founder of the world’s best affordable, bi-directional, wireless and easy to use full body motion capture suit, Holosuit, Harshavardhana Kikkeri, are among the eclectic personalities that will engage with students as part of this series.

As part of this curated series, Atria University host lives sessions, ranging from 90 minutes to 2 hours through Zoom.

7-8 PM, May 1, 2020: Let’s Fly Some Paper Planes with Guinness world-record holder John Collins

John Collins, popularly known as ‘The Paper Airplane Guy’, studied both origami and aerodynamics and spent many years improving his paper airplane designs. He broke the Guinness World Record in 2012 by designing a paper plane that flew a record 226 feet and 10 inches.

On Friday, May 1, 2020, John will join students online to teach them how to make their world-record paper plane and the uber-cool Tumbling Wing. Students will also learn a few unique aerodynamic skills such as wing loading and sink rate.

5-6:30 PM, May 7, 2020: Immerse Your Senses with Holosuit founder, Harshavardhana Kikkeri

Harshvardhana Kikkeri, the founder of the world’s first affordable, bi-directional, wireless and easy to use full body motion capture suit, Holosuit, teaches students about an interesting application of advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) by exposing them to the exciting opportunities of Immersive Reality (IR). In this interesting workshop, attendees will learn about how they can immerse all their senses and experience altered reality such as an extreme blizzard on the Himalayan Summit as if they are there.

The workshop takes students on an exciting journey as they learn about Immersive Reality, various audio, video and sensory tools that help bend the virtual and make it real. Attendees will get a chance to create their own scenario to alter reality.

Harsha, a pioneer in Robotics and Artificial General Intelligence and a TedX speaker, has worked with Microsoft Robotics and enjoys 44 patents to his name. His robots have been tested by Prime Minister Modi, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and Former US President, Barack Obama.
