Auburn University appoints vice president for governmental affairs
Jared White has been promoted to Auburn University’s vice president for governmental affairs, President Christopher B. Roberts announced today.
White, whose appointment is effective immediately, has served as Auburn’s executive director for governmental affairs since 2019.
“I have been highly impressed with Jared’s deep understanding of governmental affairs and his commitment to advancing Auburn’s mission through meaningful relationships and partnerships,” Roberts said.
White currently oversees Auburn’s state government activities. In this new role, White will add federal relations to his responsibilities.
“We have extremely talented teams in Washington, D.C., and Montgomery, and I am privileged to work with them to continually advance Auburn’s mission,” White said.
Previously, White worked as the director of legislative affairs for Gov. Kay Ivey and served in various positions in the governor’s office from 2014-19. Prior to that, he worked for Auburn Athletics and Tigers Unlimited. He is a three-time graduate of Auburn, earning a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s and doctoral degree in higher education administration.
White was a three-year letter winner for the Auburn swimming and diving team. He was a two-time first-team All-SEC student-athlete, five-time NCAA All-American and a former NCAA record holder. He was an Olympic trials qualifier and competitor in 2008.
