Auburn University Secures Top Ranking Among Best Institutions for Online Programs According to Newsweek

Following the release of Newsweek’s annual 2024 “America’s Top Online Colleges,” the publication named Auburn University among the top 20 best universities for online programs and courses.

Developed by industry ranking provider Newsweek and Statistica, a market and consumer research company, the rankings result from data compiled from feedback surveys and respondents participating in online degree programs and courses across the U.S. Assessing factors that include institutional organization, practical relevance, price, reputation, success and support, the rankings also include input from students to determine their overall experience, satisfaction and the extent to which they would recommend their institution, among other criteria factors.

“We are pleased to see Auburn’s online programs recognized in the latest Newsweek rankings,” said Vini Nathan, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs. “As we work to foster exceptional academic experiences for our students, we continue to emphasize creating innovative, flexible and accessible modalities, such as various forms of online instruction.”

The Newsweek ranking identifies universities across two broad categories, including its list of top online colleges that includes 200 colleges and universities that offer online degree programs, professional development programs and hybrid and online courses. The second category identifies organizations and platforms that provide access to their own or third-party online courses.

The rise in rankings reflects Auburn’s ongoing efforts to increase its online and hybrid degree programs and expand online course offerings. The university offers more than 500 online and hybrid courses each semester.
