Avaana Climate Week Sets Stage To Drive Climate Discussions in India

Bengaluru : Avaana Climate Week brings together founders, investors, corporate and government leaders, civil society, and the overall climate sector for one of the most significant climate-focused events in India. Hosted across three major cities—Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi—this gathering serves as a platform for key voices in sustainable business and climate action to drive and champion innovative solutions. By integrating sustainability across various dimensions, Avaana Climate Week sets a strong foundation for broader climate discussions, aligning with global efforts such as the upcoming New York Climate Week.

Avaana Climate Week kicked off last week, in Bengaluru, with an event in collaboration with Rainmatter Foundation (an initiative by Zerodha), titled ‘Connecting the Dots’. It focused on discussing practical solutions and the importance of an ecosystem approach to drive effective climate action.

Speaking on the collaboration, Swapna Gupta, Partner at Avaana Capital, said, “Sustainability is not just a trend; it’s a necessity. Avaana Capital’s collaboration with Rainmatter is a step towards ensuring that we invest in the future we want to see. Through Avaana Climate Week, we aim to build a dynamic platform where diverse stakeholders unite to drive meaningful climate action.”

Adding to this, Anjali Bansal, Founding Partner at Avaana Capital said “India is at a pivotal moment, ready to lead with the creation of 100-200 large climate-tech companies in the next decade. While global ecosystems like New York Climate Week are well-established, India is now stepping up to join the global conversation. This year, we’ve expanded our reach across Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi to engage a broader spectrum of stakeholders and foster meaningful discussions on topics ranging from energy and alternative materials to urban planning and the agri-ecosystem.”

In a fireside chat, Shashi Kumar, Founder & CEO, Akshayakalpa Organic, said, “The event organized by Avaana and Rainmatter provided a powerful platform to discuss critical topics like climate, its connection to agriculture, waste management, and opportunities for investment in the climate space.” He further added, “These conversations need to become mainstream, as many are still unaware of the profound impact of climate on our health and environment. We can only make a difference if the entire ecosystem works collaboratively.”

The panel featured notable industry leaders, including Anjali Bansal (Founding Partner of Avaana Capital), Arjun Gupta (Manager of RMI India), Vaishnavi Prabhakaran (Head of Sustainability at TATA Power), and Debmalya Sen (India Lead at Advanced Energy Solutions, World Economic Forum). They shared valuable insights into waste ecosystems, circularity, and sustainable practices.

Another highlight of Avaana Climate Week is the upcoming ‘Sustainability Leaders Connect’ event, in partnership with Mahindra Group and Amazon Web Services. Scheduled for September 11th in Mumbai, this event will bring together leaders from the corporate world to discuss climate-tech solutions, foster collaborations, and accelerate India’s pathways to net zero.
