Awareness on ‘Eat Right Standards’ held at Pulwama

 

PULWAMA : A special camp for consumer awareness and enforcement drive regarding ‘Eat Right Standard’ was today held at the Circuit House, Pulwama.

The awareness program was organized by Food and Drug Administration Pulwama under the chairmanship of Commissioner, Food Safety J&K, Shakeel ul Rehman.

Food Business Operators (FBOs) of the district took part in the camp and were given awareness on Food Safety and Standard Act-2006 and Rules and Regulation-2011 by the Food Safety officials.

During the awareness, it was informed that people consume packaged foods, including fish, meat, vegetables, without checking whether they are safe to consume or are verified by FSSAI.

It was also also given out that every food business needs FSSAI license or registration and failure to comply with it may attract penalty under Food Safety and Standards Act-2006.

Resource persons, Nodal Officers from FOSTAC and Hygiene delivered speeches on food safety measures.

The resource persons stressed on maintaining highest levels of personal hygiene and exclude COVID-19 infected persons from the operations; besides practice social distancing and appropriate cleaning/sanitization of the food operations’ premises, food contact materials etc,

As per the provisions under FSSAI Act, it is mandatory for all the food business operators to have trained and certified individuals in their business premises to ensure food safety.

To bring behavioral change and inculcating a culture of food safety across the country and to create an improved environment of self-compliance to food safety and standards, the training for the food safety supervisors would be conducted at the basic, advanced and special courses through face to face mode.
