Awareness programme held against TB dangers for ward staff

Aligarh: The Nodal Office of National TB Control Programme, J N Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University organized a sensitization programme for ward employees including nurses and ward boys to make them aware of infection threats while serving the patients.

During the programme, Professor Zuber Ahmad, Nodal Officer, DR-TB Centre, JNMC, highlighted the dangers of TB infection and informed that TB spreads through coughing, talking closely and sneezing as the bacteria of this disease are transferred during these activities. He said that the nurses, ward boys and other staff attending TB patients and their attendants should keep their mouth and nose covered with masks and a new mask should be used everyday.

Prof Ahmad said patients should be advised not to spit on the ground and the spitting pots should have ash or the lime powder in it. He urged the participants to visit the DOTS centre for investigations in case of cough and fever.
