Awareness Programme on PMBJAP held at Samba

 

SAMBA : Drugs and Food Organization Jammu & Kashmir in coordination with Chief Medical Officer Samba organised an awareness programme in the Conference hall of DC office, here today.

The D&FO, under the supervision of State Drug Controller/ Nodal Officer for Pardhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadi Pariyojan, has launched a Province wide awareness programme to promote and ensure availability of quality generic medicines at affordable prices to all.

Deputy Commissioner, Anuradha Gupta was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

Rafit Nazir Project coordinator PMBI ( New Delhi) briefed the participants regarding the inception, motive and the milestones achieved by the scheme and said that further plans are going to be multi dimensional Pariyojana.

The State Drug Controller informed that the prime objectives of the awareness program are to provide access to affordable medicines to the poor and ensure that they may not lose their life because of lack of medicines under Jan Aushadi Kendras across UT J&K.

She emphasized that this flagship program should reach every common man so that they may be able to reap the benefits of the scheme. She reiterated that the Jan Aushadhi Medicines are better in quality, purity and strength in comparison to branded medicines that are available at much lower rates to the general public.

On the occasion, Doctors and Drug Control Officers took a pledge that the scheme objectives should percolate to masses to lessen their burden/expenditure on medicines.

Under the Scheme dedicated outlets known as Jan Aushadhi Kendras have been opened to provide generic medicines at affordable rates with quality & efficiency at par with branded medicines. It was also impressed upon the doctors to prescribe medicines available at Jan Aushadhi Kendras as it will benefit more marginalized and unprivileged families.

Dr. Achint Singh Physician CHC Ramgarh also spoke on the occasion and said that availability of medicines in Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra at affordable rates are available for the general public. They also inform that one Jan Aushadhi Kendra is running at Ramgarh. This Scheme has benefited many people and there is a need to open more Jan Aushadhi Pharmacies in other areas of the District.
