Awareness/ Training programme on Disaster Management held at GDC Sopore
BARAMULLA : A daylong mega Awareness cum training programme on Disaster preparedness was today organised by Directorate of Civil Defence Kashmir in an active collaboration with IQAC, Eco Club & NSS Wing of GDC Sopore at Govt Degree College Sopore, here.
The programme was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore, Parviaz Sajad Ganie as the Chief Guest and Principal Govt. Degree College Sopore Dr. Salma Ahad as Guest of Honour.
The programme was also attended by Waseem Ahmad Senior Consultant Disaster Management, Dy. Sp Sopore, Furqan Qadri besides members of Sopore Civil Society, Football/Cricket club, adventure clubs of Sopore, Zaingair Civil Society, Doabagh Civil Society, Sopore traders federation besides a huge gathering of students.
On the occasion, a series of lectures were delivered with regard to disaster preparedness and its technical aspects.
Demonstration sessions were also conducted on the occasion by the trainers of State Disaster Repose Force (SDRF) wherein the participants were made aware about the Disaster Management preparedness and were taught in detail as how to avert any disaster causing huge loss to life and property.
Divisional Warden Civil Defence, I.P Singh also delivered lecture on first-aid techniques used during the time of disaster.
Speaking on the occasion, ADC Sopore said that such kind of programmes must be attended in order to get awareness about disaster preparedness so that response towards disasters are mitigated without loss of life and property.
Moreover, he urged upon the students to evolve themselves fully in such programmes and get proper training to face any eventuality.
Later, a live demonstration of equipments was also conducted in the second session which evoked keen interest from the students and participants.
