Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav at AMU schools

 

Aligarh : Shafali Singh (Class X) was declared the winner of Class IX- X category—essay-writing contest on ‘Women in India’s Independence’ held to mark the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations at the Aligarh Muslim University-AMU Girls’ School.

Madeeha Anees (Class X) stood second, while Class IX students, Zoya Amjad and Naaz Ishrat were given the third and consolation prizes respectively.

In the Class VI-VIII grouping, Vaishnavi (Class VIII) bagged the first prize for her essay on ‘Great Indian Freedom Fighters’. Arsheen Imran (Class VIII) finished second, Alia Zafar (Class VIII) secured the third position and Fatima Zehra (Class VI) received the consolation prize.

Sara Khan Tomar (Class I) won the Patriotic Song competition in the Junior Class category which also had Vanshika Atal (Class IV), Madiha Khanam (Class I) and Sabiha Khan (Class I) as the second, third and consolation prize winners respectively.

In the Poster-making contest of the Junior Class grouping, Tazkira Jannat (Class VIII) was declared the winner with Sanjana Kashyap (Class VIII) finishing second and Luck Priya Gautam (Class VI) at the third place. Aafreen (Class VI) was given the consolation prize.

Haram Maria (Class IX) bagged the first prize in the Senior Class category—poster-making competition; while Yukta Agarwal and Iffat Ali of Class IX stood second and third respectively. Heba Fatima (Class X) received the consolation prize.

In the Primary-Section group—essay-writing contest on ‘Freedom Struggle of India’, Mahira Shahid (Class IV) was given the first prize, while Sophiya (Class IV), Tanvi Rajput (Class V) and Deepika Sharma (Class V) were the second, third and consolation prize winners respectively.

“Arshi Zafar (Vice Principal) supervised the celebrations and school teachers, Kausar, Parveen, Huma Mukhtar, Zeba Nawaz and Sadiq conducted the programme”, said Amna Malik, Prinicpal, AMU Girls’ School.

At the AMU City Girls High School (Qazi Para): Students sang patriotic songs; participated in the poster-making, quiz and fancy-dress competitions and recited self-composed poetry in the English, Hindi and Urdu languages to celebrate the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

“Ambareen Rehman prepared the students for patriotic songs, F Anwar helped organise the poster-making contest, Tehmina Ashraf guided the students for the choir singing of the National Anthem, Urooja Khan and Sana Shamshad conducted the quiz, Asghar Alam and Tariq Hafeez guided students for the JAM session on patriotic topics and Farzana Nazeer presented the programme report”, said Dr MD Alamgir, Prinicipal, AMU City Girls High School.

M Javed Akhtar (Vice Principal) said: “A documentary on the role of Bahadur Shah Zafar in the 1857 Mutiny was also screened to mark the occasion. School teachers: Ismail Beg, Nazish Siddiqui, Asghar Alam, Zia ul Haq and Sana Shamshad helped organising the programme”.
