Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav: Rajouri admin observes Mahaparinirvan Diwas

DC urges people to follow footprints of Dr Ambedkar, maintain brotherhood

 

RAJOURI: District Administration Rajouri, under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, today observed Mahaparinirvan Diwa to commemorate the 65th death anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Rao Ambedkar.

On the occasion, a tribute paying program was organised at Ambedkar Park which was attended by a large number of people from all sections of the society.

Secretary DLSA, Surinder Thapa; President MC Rajouri, Mohd Arief; DSEO, Bilal Rashid Mir; DSWO, Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt; ARTO, Shami Kumar; ExEn PMGSY Rajouri, Subah Chander; ExEn PMGSY Budhal, Abdul Gani; DHO, Shafqat Mir besides other District officers attended the event.

Prominent civil society members and political leaders including Rajinder Gupta; President Beopar Mandal, Rajesh Gupta; counsellors, besides people from all sections of the society were also present on the occasion.

Pertinently, India observes December 6 as Mahaparinirvan Divas every year to mark the death anniversary of Dr Bhimrao Rao Ambedkar, who is also called the father of the Indian constitution. He also fought for the economic and social empowerment of Dalits in the country.

The meet started with the reading of the ‘Preamble’ to the constitution of India.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner said that Dr Ambedkar devoted his life towards the cause of freedom of India from the British and at the same time he fought bravely for inducing Samrasta into the society.

“Ambedkar will remain as a source of inspiration for centuries and India can never forget his great contributions” he said and urged the public to follow his ideas for the progress of the Nation.

The DC said that the District Administration is working for the socio-economic upliftment of the weaker sections of the society and special focus is being laid on ST, SC and OBCs.

“To ensure equality and to provide equal opportunities to the girls, the Government for the first time has decided to recruit girls in NDA and the District Administration is planning to organise coaching classes for the interested aspirants,” informed DC Rajouri.

“District Administration is also working on a multi-pronged strategy for the welfare of the womenfolk and concrete measures are being taken to address their genuine concerns, ” the DC said.

He also urged upon the labourers to get themselves registered on the E Sharm portal to avail the necessary benefits of the welfare schemes launched by the Government for them.

He also said that the District administration Rajouri has also set the target of clearing 15000 Self Employment cases till March 2022 to provide ample opportunity to unemployed youth of the district to set up their ventures.
