Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav: Rajouri Admin organises Mega cultural cum tourism promotion event at Chingus Fort

RAJOURI: Intending to promote local culture and tourism in the district, the District Administration Rajouri, as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, today organised a mega cultural cum tourism promotion event here at Historic Chingus Fort.
The event was organised under the overall supervision of the District Development Commissioner, Rajesh K Shavan, who was also the chief guest on the occasion.
BDC Chairperson Doongi, Raiz Chowdhury; ACR, Tahir Mustafa Malik; ACD, Sushil Khajuria; DSEO, Bilal Rashid Mir; ACP, Abdul Rashid Kohli; District Tuberculosis Officer, Dr Anwar; District AYUSH Officer, Dr Rajeev Sharma; ExEn PMGSY Rajouri, Subah Chander; BDO, Mohd Arief; Other District and sectoral officers besides Sarpanches, panches and public in large numbers from all sections of the society attended the event.
Pertinently, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is in full swing in Rajouri and as a part of these celebrations many activities are being organised to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence
Rajouri is also presenting a unique model to involve public, youth, women and PRIs in the process of development and special attention is being paid to engage youth and women in self-employment generation activities.
The program started with the Cultural items by the team of DIC Rajouri and local artists who enthralled the audience with the melodious songs.
The participants were also educated about several schemes and programs including SEHAT, PMAY, JKBOCW, PMJJBY, PMJDY, PMSBY, APY, Aapki Zamin Aapki Nigrani etc launched by the Government to address the social and economic welfare of the general public.
The concerned officer from Food Safety also delivered a lecture on the Eat Right challenge campaign and threw a detailed light on various aspects of the campaign. Similarly, a lecture on preventive measures on Tuberculosis was also delivered during the event and participants were educated as to how precious human lives can be saved from TB.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner said that Rajouri is bestowed with abundant natural beauty and breathtaking landscapes and it would usher it into a booming economy if tapped appropriately.
He also said that the District Administration is working on a multi-pronged strategy for the promotion of tourism to attract more and more tourists to the region.
Highlighting the tourist spots of the district, the DC said that Rajouri has a huge potential to become a preferred tourist destination and this sector can support a much higher employment workforce.
Enumerating the activities being undertaken to promote cultural heritage and tourism sector in the district, he said that several events including mega cultural events, trekking expedition, Himalayan bike rally besides several other events have already been organised and such activities shall continue in near future.
Outlining the measures promotion of border tourism, he informed that the Distt Adm is all set to organise a border mela with the intent to explore the virgin tourist spots of the border belts to raise the economy of the border residents. He also informed that a rural Dangal would also be organised soon.
Talking about the steps being taken to ensure proper drinking water supply, the DC said that as many as 688 hand pumps are being installed in the district and more hand pumps would be installed in near future.
He also informed that water conservation works are in full swing in Rajouri besides he also appealed to the masses to ensure judicious use of water in their daily lives.
Throwing light on the welfare measures being taken for the youth, the DC said that so far, seventy-five thousand youth of the district have been registered and concrete measures are being taken to address their genuine concerns.
“District administration Rajouri has also set the target of clearing 15000 Self Employment cases till March 2022 to provide ample opportunity to unemployed youth of the district to set up their ventures”, the DC informed.
He also highlighted the measures being taken for the upliftment of the weaker sections of the society and said that special focus is being paid on ST, SC and OBCs.
DC also informed that a special training of SHGs for making a craft by using pine needles has recently concluded in the district and the district administration is intending to organise more such training sessions at Sub-divisional and Block levels.
He also advised the labourers to get themselves registered with the Labour Department to avail necessary benefits being implemented by the department in the district.
DC also urged upon the public to avail themselves of the benefits of the newly launched Aap ki Zameen Aap ki Nigrani land Information system and said that this new system will provide land records at their palm, just a click away.
DC also appealed to the PRIs and public to work side by side with the District Administration for the peace, prosperity and development of the district.
