Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsava: DC flags off walkathon-cum-cycling rally to spread awareness about rich heritage, tourism potential of District Reasi

 

REASI : As part of the ongoing “Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav ”, a walkathon cum Cycling rally was organised by the Tourism department under the stewardship of Deputy Commissioner Reasi ,Charandeep Singh.

The event started with a Heritage walk from District Administrative complex to Bhimgarh fort, which was followed by a cycle rally flagged off from Shaheed Kamal Kishore Chowk to Siar Baba.

Around 25 cyclists of Reasi Paddlers led by Mohammad Sayeed, AD FS&CA and Gulshan Kumar, DSWO, participated in the event under the slogan of “Pedal for Nation” to instill the feeling of pride and unity .

The heritage walk towards Bhimgarh Fort witnessed participation of Deputy Commissioner ADDC Jyoti Slathia; PO ICDS, Renu Kumari; ACD Anirudh Rai; ACR Sanjay Badyal; CEO Mohammad Aziz; Chief Agriculture Officer Sudhir Singh: District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Subhash Chandra; Assistant Director Tourism, Ambika Bali; Chief Horticulture Officer Brij Vallabh Gupta, District Social Welfare Officer, Gulshan Kumar; Assistant Director FCS&CA Mohammad Sayeed and besides locals and school children.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Bhimgarh Fort has a great historical significance and was a citadel during Dogra rule and is also associated with the great warrior of the 19th century, General Zorawar Singh.

The local tourist guide and the family members from 5th and 6th generation of General Zorawar Singh interacted with DC and explained the significance and construction details of the Fort including Har ki Pauri, Bhim Arjuna Temple, Kalimata Temple, unique ventilation hall,150 year old water conservation system “Bowli”.

The event concluded with recitation of the National Anthem, patriotic slogans, stories on the life of great warrior general Zorawar Singh and a brief tribute to the martyrs through a patriotic play performed by young artists of Reasi.
