Azadi Ka Amrut Mohatsav: DIC Kishtwar hosts District level National Anthem singing Contest

Kishtwar: As a part of 75 week celebration of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a district level National Anthem singing competition was today organised by District Information Centre DIC Kishtwar.

Around 40 students of government and private educational institutions, local artists, teachers and interested locals participated in the contest. The contestants participated with great enthusiasm to showcase their talents and sense of patriotism.

In the 18 plus category, Suhaib Kandoo of Kandoo Mohalla (Open entry) was declared as winner in solo category and Natasha student of Govt Degree College Kishtwar as 2nd runner up in solo performance. In the 18 plus group performance, a group comprising teachers of Kidzee Play School was declared as the winner.

In the 13-18 year age group, Kalpana Sharma and Saloni Bhagat both students of GHSS (Girls) Kishtwar shared 3rd position, Sahil Kumar Ashok Kumar of GHSS (Boys) Kishtwar bagged 2nd position and Payal Shan, student of GHSS (Girls) was declared winner.

All the winners will be conferred awards/prizes on the occasion of 15th Aug 2021.

Meanwhile, the Chief Guest, Deputy Commissioner, Ashok Sharma informed the participants that the Jammu and Kashmir government has announced the national anthem singing competition as part of celebration of 75 years of India’s Independence through online mode.

He added that as the nation is celebrating 75 years of Independence and commemorating it as ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’, under the guidance of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the administration has called upon individuals and groups to take part in the competition.

He said that under the individual category, people can participate in two sub-categories — aged 13-18 and 18 plus. Winners will be given cash awards with first prize carrying Rs 25,000, the second prize Rs 11,000 and third prize Rs 5,000.

District-level winners will compete for division level, and all participants will get certificates, the chairperson said.

Further, all individual and group winners will get a chance to sing the national anthem at their respective district and division-level I-Day 2021 celebrations, he informed.
