‘Back to Village’ takes governance to remotest areas in Udhampur

People welcome initiative, presents their grievances, issues to Visiting Officers

UDHAMPUR:The day three of ambitious ‘Back to Village’ initiative witnessed activities being undertaken in various panchayats of the district with Visiting Officers conducting public meets, inspections to assess the status of amenities available for the people at grassroots’ level.

During the day, several activities were conducted in various panchayats across the district including Mahila and Gram sabhas, cultural and sports activities, Village Development plan formulation, discussion related to flagship schemes and other departmental programmes, Nasha Mukht message through cultural events, inauguration of Capex works, inspections of Anganwadi Centre and conduct of Bal Sabhas.

On day third, Principal Secretary ARI and Trainings, Ashok Kumar Parmar, who is also visiting officer for Panchayat Tikri-A, had deliberate interaction with Panchayat representatives and general public of the area. He took note of issues concerning development and welfare of their respective areas.

He also interacted with officers of line departments and obtained feed back regarding various ongoing development works being executed under different flagship schemes.

During the day, he inspected exhibition cum stalls established by different department about individual beneficiary schemes. He also participated in various cultural and sports activities.

Parmar also interacted with youth club members, senior citizens, prominent persons of the panchayat besides Biodiversity and JJM committees.

Principal Secretary ARI attended gram sabha with all elected members and citizens of the panchayat regarding formulation of convergence plan. He inspected various government establishments and works being executed under RDD.

DDC Chairperson Udhampur, Lal Chand, and others accompanied the Principal Secretary.

Principal Secretary also inaugurated various works done under different schemes.

He reviewed implementation of various CSSs like PMAY and MGNREGA. He attended skit on Gandhi katha and Nasha Mukht Abhiyan.

Later, he distributed sports kits, land passbooks and employment letters during the event.

On day third, Back to Village’ programme witnessed overwhelming participation of PRI representatives and general public who evinced keen interest in this unique initiative of the government.

Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Prashant Goyal, who was visiting officer for Jaganoo Panchayat, interacted with PRIs and locals there. A large number of people including senior citizens and youth participated in the interactions and put forth their demands and grievances.

Prashant Goyal apprised the participants about various centrally and state sponsored schemes tailored for public welfare and development.

During the visit, he also inspected stalls set up by different departments highlighting their respective schemes and programmes.
