Bandipora Admin organises two-day awareness programme on Disaster Management

 

BANDIPORA : The District Administration Bandipora on Saturday kick started a special two-day awareness programme on Disaster management for the employees of the district at Mini Secretariat here.

The programme was organised on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad who is also the Chairperson of District Disaster Management Authority.

The programme was attended by employees of all the departments stationed at Mini-Secretariat Bandipora including officials of Department of Health, Revenue, Social Welfare, Education etc

The experts of SDRF lead by Dy.SP SDRF Bandipora, Aijaz Ahmad imparted training to the employees regarding first aid, fire fighting, rescue techniques and the immediate response to any disaster besides other techniques.

Experts said that the aim of the exercise was to build a culture of disaster preparedness and resilience among employees. He said the training will allow employees not only to save themselves but will also act as first responders at the time of any disaster.

Officers said the two days training will help the employees to handle emergency cases during any disaster including fire incident, earthquake, and floods etc which are common in Kashmir valley. The programme shall continue on day second with practical demonstration of rescue techniques.
