Bar Association of India celebrates 2nd edition of ‘The Lawyers of India Day’
New Delhi: The Bar Association of India, today, felicitated and honoured legal luminaries to mark – ‘The Lawyers of India Day’. The event, which was held in New Delhi, coincided with the birth anniversary of India’s first President and a lawyer by training, Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Hon’ble Justice A.P Shah, Former Chief Justice of Delhi High Court and Former Chairman Law Commission of India; Mr. K. K. Venugopal, Attorney General of India; and Mr. Fali S. Nariman, President Emeritus, The Bar Association of India, graced the occasion as guests of honour.
Appreciating the legal profession’s contribution, Hon’ble Justice A.P Shah, said, “India’s legal community plays a very significant role in shaping some foremost reforms that transpire in the country. The Association has been instrumental in taking forward several regional and bilateral initiatives, which are important to take trade and economic objectives of the nation forward. I am extremely delighted on being here today and would like to congratulate the Bar Association on celebrating the second anniversary of “The Lawyers of India Day” today, and the awardees for their immense contribution to the profession.”

The Indian legal community owes much to them,” said, Dr Lalit Bhasin, President, Bar Association of India.
The Bar Association of India has been actively involved in providing free legal aid, improvement of legal education, maintenance of high professional conduct and discipline, to hold conferences and seminars on current topics, et al. The Association has always stood in the forefront whenever the Rule of law and the independence of the judiciary have been imperilled, and has rendered yeomen’s service to uplift the standards of the legal profession and education in India.
“It is a brilliant endeavour on part of the prestigious Bar Association of India to bring to focus the role of legal profession as in the past and in the future. Also, it’s quite apt that ‘Lawyers of India Day’ is celebrated in the memory of Dr Rajendra Prasad,” said, Mr. K. K. Venugopal, Attorney General for India, acknowledging the contributions of the Bar Association of India.
Mr Fali S Nariman, President Emeritus, The Bar Association of India said, judiciary and lawyers have a significant role to play in upholding the rule of law, and I congratulate the Bar Association of India for their efforts.
