Behind the Scenes of ‘Gulmohar’: Whistling Woods International’ Film Forum Reveals Filmmaking Secrets

Whistling Woods International (WWI) hosted a captivating Film Forum session with the cast and crew of the critically-acclaimed movie, Gulmohar. This engaging session, designed exclusively for the students of WWI, featured an immersive panel discussion with the creative minds behind ‘Gulmohar’, providing unique insights into the making of the film.

Gulmohar, a cinematic masterpiece, is a project close to the hearts of its creators. The panel hosted the exceptional team, featuring the talents of writer, producer, and director, Rahul V. Chittella, editor Tanupriya Sharma—also an alumna of Whistling Woods International, music producer, Kanishk Seth, and the gifted actors Kaveri Seth and Utsavi Jha. These accomplished individuals came together to share their experiences, recount challenges, and unveil their cinematic aspirations.

Rahul V. Chittella shared a delightful anecdote about how he was challenged by his wife to create a family drama, resulting in the creation of the film, starring the iconic Manoj Bajpayee and Sharmila Tagore. While addressing the students, director Rahul V. Chittella, said, “Immerse yourself in the world of cinema by watching a movie daily for inspiration and actively engaging in practical filmmaking by shooting your own projects. This is where your passion transforms into art, and your vision becomes a reality.”

Expressing her excitement about returning to WWI, editor and WWI alumna Tanupriya Sharma said, “It’s an honour to come back to my alma mater. Editing this film as a proud alumna is a testament to the creative journey Whistling Woods International has enabled me to embark on.” Her journey has come full circle as she returns to the campus, this time as a guest at the film forum. Her impressive career includes collaborations with acclaimed filmmakers, including Mira Nair.

The panel discussion was expertly moderated by Rahul Puri, Head of Academics, Whistling Woods International, facilitating a dynamic and engaging conversation that delved deep into the artistic and technical aspects of filmmaking. The students had the opportunity to gain valuable insights into the creative process that went into the making of the film, from scriptwriting and production to music composition and acting.

Whistling Woods International continues to play a pivotal role in nurturing talent and fostering an environment of creative exploration in the world of media and creative arts. The Film Forum with the team of Gulmohar is yet another testament to its commitment to providing invaluable learning experiences to its students and the broader film and media community.
