Beijing Tsinghua Chang Gung Hospital Conducts Training for Medical Social Work Professionals
From June 21 to 23, the “2024 National Continuing Education Project ‘Medical Social Work Talent Training Course’ and the Academic Conference of the Medical Social Work Professional Committee of the Beijing Hospital Association” was held at Tsinghua University, sponsored by Beijing Tsinghua Chang Gung Hospital affiliated to Tsinghua University, the Medical Social Work Professional Committee of the Beijing Hospital Association, and Shenzhen Henghui Public Welfare Foundation, and co-organized by Tsinghua University Hospital Management Institute and Beijing New Sunshine Charity Foundation. More than 30 experts and scholars from home and abroad and more than 250 medical social workers gathered in Tsinghua Park to study professionally, promote each other and promote the localization and professionalization of medical social work.
Zhang Zongjiu, deputy director of Tsinghua University School of Medicine, executive vice president of the Hospital Management Research Institute, and vice president of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, said that improving medical services and enhancing patient experience are direct measures to protect people’s health and enhance people’s well-being, and medical social workers play a key supporting role in this process. It is expected that medical social workers across the country will take this opportunity to conduct in-depth discussions and contribute their wisdom and strength to the development of new quality productivity of medical social work and the promotion of better patient services.
Zhou Yuehong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Beijing Tsinghua Chang Gung Hospital affiliated to Tsinghua University, said that medical social work is an integral part of public hospitals’ provision of humanistic health services. Beijing Tsinghua Chang Gung Hospital has incorporated medical social work into the construction of the social welfare service system, adhered to the “six-in-one” strategy, explored a development path with Chinese characteristics and Tsinghua style, and has made it into a beautiful business card for the hospital.
Wen Shulan, Vice President and Secretary General of the Beijing Hospital Association, said that since the change of leadership in 2021, Beijing Tsinghua Chang Gung Hospital has served as the chairman unit of the Medical Social Work Committee of the Beijing Hospital Association, playing an important role in leading the construction of the medical social work industry. It is hoped that all participants will gain value and transform practice through this industry conference with rich topics and diverse content, injecting new vitality and momentum into medical social work.
Ji Qingying, chairman of the Hospital Social Work and Volunteer Service Working Committee of the Chinese Hospital Association and secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai Children’s Medical Center, said that with the continuous improvement of medical technology levels and rehabilitation cure rates, medical social workers have a lot to do in enhancing doctor-patient harmony, improving medical experience, and promoting health literacy. He hopes that medical social workers across the country will keep up with the trend of the times, unite and cooperate, give full play to their expertise, make up for their shortcomings, and make greater contributions to the high-quality development of medical social work in the new era.
Zhou Bing, vice president of the China Social Work Association and director of the Medical Social Work Professional Committee, said that medical social workers are the key to public hospitals demonstrating humanistic spirit and deepening cultural construction. Medical social work is currently ushering in a new period of development. We should increase efforts to improve the construction of the professional ecological chain, improve policies and systems, talent teams, continuing education, social resources and other support, integrate academic exchanges and case studies, and continuously enhance the social cognition of the medical social work profession, so that the abilities and charm of medical social workers can be better expressed and displayed.
