Berger Memorable Walls Design Competition for Students

Kolkata: Berger Paints India Ltd., recognized as one of the paint majors in India, successfully completed the award ceremony of the first edition of the Berger Memorable Walls recently on its virtual platform (virtual.bergermemorablewalls.com,). Berger Memorable Wall is a ground breaking initiative to provide students with a unique platform on which they can showcase their creativity and it also helps students to experience the feel of a live project to boost their confidence. The idea was to promote new ideas and designs and channelize their creative talent. The contest was conceptualized following the basic ethos of Berger Paints “Paint your imagination”.

 

This unique design contest had participants from various Art &Design Institute from across West Bengal. The top 10 participants were awarded with cash prizes along with a trophy and a certificate. The Winning team was Satabdi Barman, Debayan Saha, Sudip Ghosh and Arindam Patra from the Indian College of Arts & Draftsmanship. First runner up was the team of Subhajit Mandal and Arghadip Mandal from Government College of Arts & Crafts, Calcutta and the second runner up was an individual entry by Nupur Poddar from Rabindra Bharati University.

 

The contest was judged by a bench of 6 eminent judges namely, Mr Amit Maitra, Director AK Enterprise Pvt. Ltd; Mr Abhijit Saha, Director, Decoflor Architects and Interior Designers; Mr Bipratip Dhar, Founder and Principal Architect, Epsilon; Mr. Pankaj Panwar, Principal, Kala Bhavan, Biswa Bharati; Rupande Shah, Director, Rupande Shah & Associates and Kanak Nanda, Wall Artist, Designer & Psychologist. The Judges, on the occasion appreciated the initiative by Berger Paints of providing such a unique platform to engage the Design students in spite of the limitations imposed by the pandemic.

 

Mr. Sudhir Nair, General Manager-Marketing, Berger Paints Limited congratulated all the participants for showcasing their creativity and talked about the successful completion of the event. He further added, “Berger Paints has been driving innovation as a core tenet and this contest was a natural extension of this tenet to GenNext for showcasing their creativity and innovation. We look forward to the designs and concepts that all the winners will bring forward on their professional journey. We would consider our objective fulfilled if this experience has given the participants a glimpse into the professional world and allows them to step forward with more confidence”.
