BFSU Launches Kinyarwanda Language Course

On October 8, the School of African Studies of BFSU held a ceremony to launch a Kinyarwanda language course, the first of its kind in Chinese universities. Jia Wenjian, BFSU vice president, Virigile Rwanyagatare, charge d’affaires at the Rwandan Embassy in China, and Shu Zhan, former Chinese ambassador to Rwanda attended the ceremony.

Kinyarwanda, as the national language and one of the official languages of the Republic of Rwanda, is used by about 40 million people in several countries including Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda.
